Father’s Day Deals

Reported by Logan Leger on Fri, Jun 19th, 2009 — begin the discussion

Faithful reader Becky sent me some tips today about deals you can cash in on Father’s Day. Most locations in the area are honoring these promotions, but your mileage may vary. Drop me a comment or hit me up on the tips line if this information is inaccurate.

  • Chick-fil-A is giving free 14oz shakes to Dads with their kids on Saturday.
  • Free cup or cone for Dad at TCBY on Sunday.
  • Carrabba’s: Write up a Toast to Dad on their web site and you’ll receive a free appetizer with the purchase of an entree.
  • Outback Steakhouse: Take Dad to eat on Sunday and he’ll get a $10 gift certificate toward a future visit. More info here.
  • Great American Cookies: free regular cookie with any purchase through 6/22 with this coupon.
  • McDonalds to give Dad’s free Extra Value Breakfast on Father’s Day. [I'm not sure about all of the locations, so just ask the cashier about the promo before assuming it's available.]
  • Thanks again to Becky. If you have information, hit up our tip line.

John Lennon Bus on LSU Campus; Free Shwag

Reported by Logan Leger on Thu, Jun 04th, 2009 — begin the discussion

The John Lennon Bus is a non-profit educational bus that travels the country. Ten months out of the year, the team of three is on the road going to various campus and community organizations to educate through music. Through the generous support of companies such as Apple, Sony, and Maxell, the bus helps kids realize their music potential.

This week, the bus is on campus. Today, in front of the Union, you can go to the bus to get a free t-shirt from Apple and miscellaneous free electronics from Maxell and take a tour of the bus. It’s absolutely incredible inside and the exact type of opportunity I’d want if I were at all musically inclined. It’s definitely a worthwhile stop if you’re on campus (if nothing else for the free shirt, I mean, it’s Apple and American Apparel, what more could you ask for?).

Tomorrow, the three on-board producers are working with a digital media class at LSU to create, shoot and produce a live music video in a one eight-hour session.

You can learn more about the bus by visiting their website.

Free Float Night at Baton Rouge Sonic’s

Reported by Logan Leger on Tue, Jun 02nd, 2009 — 2 comments

Tomorrow night, June 3, is Free Float Night at Sonic Drive-ins. Tomorrow only go to any area Sonic sometime between 8pm and midnight for a complimentary 10oz Root Beer Float. (It’s completely free; no strings attached. Literally just show up and they’ll bring out a float.)

Last year, I participated in this event (several times, but don’t tell anyone) and it was really awesome. Root Beer Floats (especially at Sonic) are always good, but even more so when they’re free.

This week we posted another Cool People feature about JazzyBird coffee, a really neat company that started up in Baton Rouge. They manufacture frozen espresso shots which you can purchase at a grocery store (sold in packs of 8) and microwave in a cup of milk for instant espresso for about $0.45 each—talk about recessional savings!

The great people at JazzyBird were kind enough to give us some of the packs to give away as well as mugs and some coupons. To win, just follow these simple steps:

  1. Follow JazzyBird on Twitter.
  2. Follow us on Twitter.
  3. Subscribe to our newsfeed and our weatherfeed.
  4. Leave a comment on the JazzyBird post.

Free Chick-fil-A from Brad Arton at the Mall of Louisiana Tomorrow

Reported by Logan Leger on Thu, Apr 30th, 2009 — begin the discussion

Brad Arton, the owner of the Chick-fil-A in the Mall of Louisiana, just told me that he plans on giving away 200 sandwiches tomorrow at 11:15am somewhere in the Mall of Louisiana. He’ll also be giving out 500 coupons somewhere on the LSU campus at 1:30pm. Follow him @bdarton on Twitter to get the location and the free chicken. And who doesn’t love Chick-fil-A—especially when it’s free?

Free Tall Iced Coffee at Area CC’s Coffeehouses Today

Reported by Logan Leger on Sat, Apr 18th, 2009 — one comment

We just received word via Twitter that area CC’s Coffeehouses are offering a free tall iced coffee from 2- 4pm today.

Their tall size is a 12-ounce drink and flavors available in this promotion are: classic, hazelnut, vanilla, and caramel. Notice that this applies only to their Coffeehouses and not to their kiosks (e.g. Mall of LA).

This is just a promotion. CC’s is trying to generate attention to their coffee, so they’re giving it away. Full details are available via the press release.
