The Baton Rouge Business Report published a quote by Les Miles about the new House Bill 27 that would allow for concealed weapons on campus. If you remember, a few days ago we openly opposed this bill, but we were very taciturn about the reasons why (mostly because we felt them to be tacit). Les Miles’s quote really embodies our opposition to this bill:

To allow firearms on campus would be to introduce an element of risk that could compromise all that is good about a university setting.

Also noted is that all four LSU System Presidents and every member of the Board of Regents has opposed it as well.

Legislature, it’s time to start listening.
